I’m the new guy on the block and your VP. Really, I’m a nerdy, electronic, techno-gadget freak hooked on these wonderful cars. I love auto sports, but more importantly, the people who drive them. Porsches are sexy, cool, expensive, exhausting and relentless. Just like our wives. However, the casual coolness of these cars is not why I drive them; it’s the German engineering, and the comfort of them working 30 years later. In 1993, I worked for the Smithsonian -National Air & Space Museum in aircraft restoration. One fine aircraft I had the opportunity to work on was the WWII German jet bomber called the Arado 234B. The speed, sleekness, simplicity and ease of maintenance made this aircraft a modern marvel of it’s time. It was at that point that I looked at the wizardry of other things German and realized the same passion for Porsches’. Fast forward 16 years later. I’m married, I have 3 kids, I daily commute, sleep, commute, work, commute, kids, sleep, commute, travel, and commute even more… You get the idea. I needed an outlet, and the two car garage is really a one car garage with, bicycles, scooters, Christmas decorations and Barbie Jeeps and oh yes……my tool boxes. So I thought, surely, I can fix old Porsches. So I jumped into restoration of an old 928. 928’s are kind of like your mother-in-law. They are beautiful, bitchy, cantankerous, and just plain fun to be around; and the kids love her. I’ve spun out, broke down, spent way too much money on, repaired, scared by, tweaked, been shocked, rubbed, waxed, babied and napped in that car. I love old Porsche cars, the people who love these cars, and the people who love the people who love these cars. It is the cars that brought me to join this club; however, it is the people in the Musik-Stadt PCA Club that make me want to stay. I’m proud to serve as your VP and will work hard with the officers to make this the best PCA club we can. Paul is an Inspector and Aircraft Accident Investigator for the Federal Aviation Administration.
