My first Porsche was a 1988 928 S4. I saw one at a bank auction lot several years previosly and fell in love with the 928. At that time, I had a company car and was not in the market for another car. But company cars were eliminated and I ended up with a Chevy Lumina. The Lumina was very serviceable but when it got a lot of miles on it, I had to buy a new vehicle. I thought about the 928 and thought it wouldn’t hurt to look in the want ads. The very first day I looked, there it was! A white 1988 928 and within 15 miles of my house. Within a week it was mine and I ended up driving that car for 7 years with never a serious engine or transmission problem. I liked it so well I bought a 1990 928 3 years ago. And the attention this car gets wherever I go still makes me feel warm and fuzzy!! My 1988 was a veteran performer for the Eurofest Car shows Mike Gillespie put on. I have first, second, and third place trophies from that series of Eurofest shows. I joined the Porsche club to see and meet with other Porschephiles, hopefully with 928’s! I became the treasurer to stay plugged in to the club’s activities. I have met a lot of very good people in the Porsche Club and enjoy my Club experiences. Porsche owners/ club members who don’t actively participate are missing out on some great experiences! |
